Project Concept

A résumé summarizer that helps recruiters with AI-assisted tools to streamline candidate evaluation. The tool highlights candidates’ relevant skills and qualifications based on the job description, allowing recruiters to sort and filter by specific criteria. Recruiters can also adjust priority levels for certain requirements, tailoring summaries to their needs. Designed to support, not replace, human judgment, this tool enhances decision-making without automating candidate selection.

Malini Kar Team Lead RSVP Approved

Junior Software Engineer at Syncsol
Worked on frontend and prompts
Malini (also known as Ria) is a software developer at SyncSol with a Master’s in Natural Language Processing from UC Santa Cruz. Her capstone project focused on low-resource language translation with language adapters to bridge linguistic gaps. She’s also explored AI’s creative potential, developing a custom recipe generator that tailors dishes to user preferences. Her AI journey began in undergrad with machine learning for adaptive optics, where she analyzed data in MATLAB and experimented with reinforcement learning. Skilled in Python, PyTorch, and TensorFlow, Malini builds NLP models with Hugging Face and NLTK and has a strong foundation in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model optimization. She’s eager to learn and collaborate at this hackathon!
I am largely interested in leveraging language models to create a meaningful impact on daily life, particularly in areas like language translation and education as an equal access resource through AI. I focus on domains constrained by low resources, such as on-device local models, scarce data, or lack of compute. I am eager to connect with collaborators who share these interests to explore innovative approaches in these critical fields.
I’m currently participating in the Kaggle competition "Unlock Global Communication with Gemma," where I’m adapting Google’s Gemma 2 model for various languages and cultural contexts. My focus is on curating robust datasets and fine-tuning approaches that enhance performance in low-resource settings. Additionally, I am developing a chatbot for e-commerce at SyncSol, utilizing Nopcommerce and Bot Framework.
