Project Toy Story: An Innovative AI companion Support System for Children with Cancer
Our AI-powered companion toy revolutionizes pediatric cancer care by bridging the gap between young patients and their healthcare providers. Through natural voice conversations, the companion provides continuous emotional support while intelligently monitoring children’s well-being during cancer treatment.
The system’s three-tier architecture seamlessly integrates real-time interactions, medical analysis, and clinical oversight. The interactive companion uses MQTT for communication and securely stores conversations in Firestore. Our medical analysis pipeline leverages Google Cloud Natural Language API and Gemini Pro to analyze health indicators, emotional patterns, and treatment adherence. Healthcare providers access these insights through a Streamlit-powered medical dashboard, enabling them to review conversations, track progress, and generate clinical reports.
What sets our solution apart is its human-in-the-loop approach, where AI augments rather than replaces human care. While the AI companion provides 24/7 emotional support, healthcare professionals maintain clinical oversight, making informed decisions based on AI-generated insights. This collaboration has tangible benefits: reduced treatment anxiety, improved adherence, early detection of concerns, and enhanced communication among care team members.
We prioritize trust and transparency through clear role delineation between AI support and medical professionals, secure health information handling, and human-verified clinical insights.
